Julian Assange Can Appeal UK Extradition to US

Court Ruling Gives Wikileaks Founder Hope

Assange's Lawyers Allege Suicide Risk if Extraditated

London, UK - Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has won the right to appeal a court decision that approved his extradition to the United States. The High Court ruled on Monday that Assange's lawyers can challenge the extradition on all 18 charges related to the publication of classified information by WikiLeaks.

Assange's lawyers had argued that their client's mental health is deteriorating and that he could take his own life if extradited to the US. The court agreed to consider this argument in the appeal process.

Assange's extradition to the US has been heavily criticized by human rights groups, who argue that his prosecution would set a dangerous precedent for freedom of speech and the protection of whistleblowers.

The appeal hearing is scheduled for October 27. If Assange's appeal is successful, it could potentially block his extradition and allow him to remain in the UK.
